Advantages of Video Conferencing

Video conferencing can be used in a variety of different situations, proving why the technology remains so well used. Primarily, uses for video conferencing technology include business meetings, training sessions or collaboration amongst public sector officials.

The most important advantage of the technology is that it provides the ability for people to converse face to face yet be in locations hundreds of miles away. This prevents any large travel expenses that could be incurred when meeting an associate and concurrently, reduces the time expense of a face to face meeting.

In addition, meetings can be facilitated between people living in isolated locations and the wider world - be that for business or even personal uses. As such, more people can be effectively accessed and contacted using video conferencing technology.

Due to its ease of use, information can be relayed more effectively, with students able to take part in lectures that may not be possible to travel to. Users can take in information in the comfort of their own home or workplace and thus work or learn more effectively, without the need to take time out for travelling and its associated stress.

As such, video conferencing is seen to create better knowledge sharing and information receiving. From a corporate perspective, businesses can use the technology to promote presentations to vital members of their organisation or to attract new clients in a highly professional manner, regardless of their location.

Regular meetings can also be scheduled, no matter where colleagues may be at any given time. This allows a company to keep regular tabs on how projects are progressing and any areas that can be improved upon.

Certainly, in the current economic climate, it is important to embrace a technology that aids time management, reduces expense and makes a positive impact on the face of worldwide business communications.

Prevent Viruses From Attacking You

Is your computer running slowly? Does your PC randomly lock up or just stop responding? Do you ever get weird pop ups or error messages? If so, you may be infected with a virus or spyware.

Malware like viruses and spyware can cause major damage to your system, and to your personal life. For example, certain types of malware can track your keystrokes, delete files off your computer, and steal your credit card and other personal information. The following are steps you can take to prevent this from happening to you.

Your first line of defense is a quality anti-virus program. There are free and paid versions of anti-virus software all over the Internet. Companies like McAfee and Norton have excellent security packages at reasonable prices. Their paid packages include anti-virus protection, privacy protection, and a firewall. A couple of outstanding free solutions are MalwareBytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. They both do an excellent job of removing malware that many other software packages are unable to remove. With any anti-virus package, you will want to, either manually or automatically, run virus scans at a minimum of once per week. Also, it is not recommended that you have multiple anti-virus programs installed on your computer, as this will do more harm than good.

The next line of defense is to make sure that your computer is fully up to date. That includes updates from Microsoft, and updates from your anti-virus software. New viruses are created every day, so both Microsoft and your anti-virus company will constantly have updates to prevent them from attacking your computer. Again, either manually or automatically, you will want to check for new updates from Microsoft and your anti-virus software at least once a week.

Finally, if your anti-virus software does detect a virus on your system, as soon as your anti-virus software cleans the virus, you will want to immediately run a full virus scan on your computer. Many times, malware will replicate copies of the virus or spyware all over your computer. Thus, if your anti-virus software only cleans one portion of the virus, the malware can (and probably will) re-appear.

Perform the steps of installing a quality anti-virus program, making sure your system is up to date, and performing virus scans immediately after a virus is detected can help in your battle to keep your system clean of viruses and spyware.

Mobile Internet Vs Wireless Internet

Right now, there are tons of commercials going on about mobile and wireless Internet. Some people think that these terms are being used synonymously, but they actually mean different things normally. It's really important that you know the difference between these two types of service, especially when you're getting ready to sign up for Internet service for your home or business. Here's a quick primer on what all the commercials mean when they say "mobile" and "wireless".

Wireless is actually a precedent of mobile Internet, which means that it came first. Wireless connections can be found in local restaurants and in hotels across the nation, and you can also set up a wireless connection in your own home. Most often, wireless connections in homes and businesses come through a router, which is plugged in to a wired connection, such as one that runs through a telephone line or a cable connection. The router will broadcast the Internet signal throughout a certain area, and computers with wireless connection capabilities will be able to pick up that signal and use the Internet.

Most computers these days are built with wireless cards already installed in their hardware. A few years ago, though, you had to have a special card in order to pick up wireless access. This type of access is becoming more and more common throughout the nation, as even people with small apartments do away with the need for their computers to be wired to the wall in order to get Internet access. Setting up a wireless network in a home or small office building is really simple, and pretty much anyone who can read a set of directions can do it.

Mobile Internet, on the other hand, is actually a different type of access. It is, of course, wireless, which is why it's sometimes called mobile wireless Internet. However, this type of connection comes from a different place and has a much wider radius. Instead of coming to your computer through a router, which only has a limited, small broadcast radius, mobile Internet comes to your computer through a cell-phone-like tower, which can broadcast a strong signal for miles around.

Since the two types of connections are different, the requirements for connecting to them are different, too. Wireless networks are more vulnerable than mobile networks. If you have a computer and a password, you can hack into just about any wireless network without much trouble, but trying to get a mobile network signal without the proper device is like trying to pick up a signal from another cell phone company using your own cell phone. It just won't work at all.

These two types of Internet access have been revolutionizing our world and communications for the past several years, and the advances just keep coming. More and more people are using mobile Internet as a way to access their email and communications on the road, and almost all homes with Internet now have wireless access. We'll just see where it all leads eventually.

Clear provides simple and affordable plans for home internet, mobile internet and VoIP. Get wireless Internet that goes where you want to go.

The Best Age For Children to Have Cell Phones At

Our cell phones of today bear no resemblance whatsoever to their big and bulky predecessors from not so long. They couldn't be popped into a pocket like today's slim line models, and this greatly limited their popularity and appeal. Today, more people have cell phones than land lines, this technology has completely taken over.

If you work, or are going to be later home that you planned, a cell phone is great for getting in touch. But why are children walking around with them glued to their ears? For me, the right time to give a child their own phone is when they are around fourteen or fifteen. They will be going out a lot more and visiting other kids houses without needing supervision.

Even at this age, you should impress on your child that this is a phone for emergencies, to contact you if they need you.

Sticking to the premise of emergency only, there's no need for a pre tee to have a phone at all. They should never be going to the movies or concerts unsupervised so will have no reason to ring you. They will abuse the privilege as they are simply too young to take on the responsibility.

Pay as you go cell phones are perfect for kids; they have to top it up to use it so there are no horrendous and unexpected bills at the end of the month. You could make a deal with our child, you will top it up once a month for them and of they use all their minutes before then they have to pay for the top out of their allowance.
